Hello,
I use Serendipity 2.1.4 (latest version) and also the Share plugin v 0.13.1.
The problem is: I shared an article on Facebook, and to my astonishment it showed the correct text of the article, but the picture that belonged to another article, that article was even in another category.
The link to my blog is https://www.vlaanderen-flanders.org.uk/s9y/ and the Facebookpage where I shared it is https://www.facebook.com/Vlaanderen-Fla ... 230772435/
Has anyone else come across this yet, or is it me doing something wrong?
Thank you in advance.
Possible bug in Serendipity or plugin?
Re: Possible bug in Serendipity or plugin?
By default, Facebook will use the first picture on the page you share.Klauwaart wrote: ↑Sat Sep 29, 2018 2:18 pm The problem is: I shared an article on Facebook, and to my astonishment it showed the correct text of the article, but the picture that belonged to another article, that article was even in another category.

The link from your Facebook page leads to a page where two articles are shown. The picture is taken from the first one.
It seems your link has been URL encoded once too much; it's https://www.vlaanderen-flanders.org.uk/s9y/index.php?%2Farchives%2F1-Toon-uw-hart-voor-mensen-die-het-moeilijk-hebben-aub%2C.html, but it should be https://www.vlaanderen-flanders.org.uk/s9y/index.php?/archives/1-Toon-uw-hart-voor-mensen-die-het-moeilijk-hebben-aub%2C.html
Re: Possible bug in Serendipity or plugin?
Hi thh,
Thank you for your quick reply.
I assume it must be the plugin which has done the double indexing then, or am I wrong?
All I did was click "Share".
Thanks again.

Re: Possible bug in Serendipity or plugin?
The plugin tries to set the proper meta data to get the right picture to facebook, but that can't work if Facebook does not understand the url and goes to the wrong page. That's a common problem, facebook does not understand the ?. Only known solution is to enable the URL rewriting in serendipitys configuration.
Re: Possible bug in Serendipity or plugin?
Thank you so much for that.
That has done the trick.
Much appreciated.

Re: Possible bug in Serendipity or plugin?
I have a different problem now.
When I share a post from the blog on facebook, it sends you to a blank page when you click on the link.
The post itself (see 1st attachment) only displays the title on Facebook.
When you click on the link in that post, you get the following result:
The address of the above is http://www.vlaanderen-flanders.org.uk/s ... mf35EMxZY0
Can anyone help, please?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Possible bug in Serendipity or plugin?
But that's not a blank page. That's a password protected article. Maybe you did activate the password for this article by accident?
Re: Possible bug in Serendipity or plugin?
Yes, you are right.
I hadn't really spotted that.
However, it did surprise me when I went into the admin panel that in one of the sections there was a password set, I definitely did not set it, at least not as far as I am aware of,
Anyway, I just deleted that password and now the fault is completely gone.
Thank you so much for pushing me into the right direction/
