fresh install - plugins active

Post by Timbalu »

Whow I never noticed that before :shock:
:!: On fresh installs the spamblock Plugin is not activated by default. Is that really true?

I know I have to activate Spartacus manually for certain reasons, but I never noticed to have done that to spamblock before... at least I can't remember.
I always anticipated this being delivered actively! (Which I still think this is a good idea!)

Ian

onli can probably explain better why, but we're going to have to discuss the active plugins for 2.0 anyway. I don't think this is a matter which needs to be addressed before that since we haven't had any user complaints about it as far as I can remember.

The thing is, I have done that so fucking often :) and even yesterday a live one - and I NEVER GO OUT W/O spamblock - that I must have gotten so used to install this on the fly, that I never noticed it as a unusual behaviour until today. Tztzztzz. This is what really confused and surprised me! :mrgreen:

I know that feeling. It's what I do with NL2BR, just that I uninstall it first thing. :wink:

Just as a note to all your followers:
Only do this when using textile or markdown for all userdata entry fields instead!

SCNR :wink:

PS. But you can confirm this spamblock install behaviour?!

You know what?!:
  • Installing Spartacus activates the Spamblock plugin silently! 8)
This is why I didn't remember doing this manually far more often.... Isn't that strange...?!

All of this may have hit me, while I looked into the new event install list. There the spamblock plugin was marked as not activated (though I do not remember to have looked into the draggable list) and the database *_plugins table didn't hold it either. So my question remains, if spamblock comes activated or not or maybe is just not being shown as activated by a "bug"...?

Ian

I have to admit I haven't done a fresh install of 1.7.x in quite a while, so I have no idea if that's the case. I can not remember Spamblock being installed, but not activated – “not activated” would mean it being in the “inactive” column, right? I can't remember ever seeing that.

Normally, on install, the spamblock-install plugin should be installed. This is defined in https://github.com/s9y/Serendipity/blob ... nc.php#L94. If that didn't work there might be a bug.

So other default event plugins do get installed, just that one not?

The default plugins in 1.7 are:

Code: Select all

    /* Register default sidebar plugins, order matters */
        serendipity_plugin_api::create_plugin_instance('@serendipity_calendar_plugin');
        serendipity_plugin_api::create_plugin_instance('@serendipity_quicksearch_plugin');
        serendipity_plugin_api::create_plugin_instance('@serendipity_archives_plugin');
        serendipity_plugin_api::create_plugin_instance('@serendipity_categories_plugin');
        serendipity_plugin_api::create_plugin_instance('@serendipity_syndication_plugin');
        serendipity_plugin_api::create_plugin_instance('@serendipity_superuser_plugin');
        serendipity_plugin_api::create_plugin_instance('@serendipity_plug_plugin');

        /* Register default event plugins */
        serendipity_plugin_api::create_plugin_instance('serendipity_event_s9ymarkup', null, 'event');
        serendipity_plugin_api::create_plugin_instance('serendipity_event_emoticate', null, 'event');
        serendipity_plugin_api::create_plugin_instance('serendipity_event_nl2br', null, 'event');
        serendipity_plugin_api::create_plugin_instance('serendipity_event_spamblock', null, 'event');
So either NONE of these plugins should work, or all of them. I don't think only one of them wouldn't work...

Yes, that what the linked page already posted says too. And you have to trust me, I wouldn't have posted this without having had this experience. Since I did not expect something like that to happen, I did not have an extra eye on installed plugins etc in special! To answer your questions it would need me to do that all again... That is where time hits me for the moment. But I think it was all ok with all the others.

Ian
