Hi
We’re currently using a Serendipity blog for a professional community as means of keeping everybody up to date.
There have been a couple of suggestions to improve our site. Can you tell me whether there are plugins available that can satisfy the following requirements:
1. Turn Blog entries and comments into RSS feeds for FeedReeder3 and MS SharePoint feed reader webparts.
2. A way of allowing the whole user community to rate/score posts. Either by providing a mechanism to Like or Dislike posts such as is in YouTube. Or alternatively a scoring system out of 5, linked to a way of calculating the average score/rating for a post?
I can’t see anything in the Plugins but I’m not particularly technical so may have missed something
Any help you can give would be great
Thanks in advance.

Re: Plugin Catalogue Help
Hi!
1. I don't know what this means? S9y has rss Feed support (use http://yourblog/rss.php for blog entries and http://yourblog/rss.php?type=comments for comments), it's included in the core and needs no plugins.
2. Yes, you can use the "Karma" plugin, which comes with s9y and can be enabled.
HTH,
Garvin

Re: Plugin Catalogue Help
Hi
Thanks very much for this. The RSS feed into Feedreader in particular has proved a very popular way of delivering updates.
Can I ask, and again as a non-technical person I apologise if this something blindingly obvious, but can you create RSS feeds based on either specific BLOG post Categories or Tags?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, as an example see http://blog.s9y.org/
The left sidebar has two sidebar sections which provide link icons for rss feeds. One section for your questioned categories, i.e. http://yourblog/feeds/categories/7-Templates.rss
For the tags it should be something like http://yourblog/rss.php?serendipity[tag]=winter (replace winter by your tag)
Your blog template does not have a sidebar with categories (and feed icons) available?

Hi
Thanks very much for this.
The suggestion for the Tags is very useful.
I think for the categories I confused you. What I meant was how do you turn the category assigned to a blog entry into an RSS feed. However replacing [tag] with [category] seems to have done the trick.
Thanks again
