Plugin for Hit Counter

Post by terrym »

Hi all

Does anyone know of a Serendipity plugin that will count unique visitors, or perhaps a similar alternative?

Or does Serendipity already have a built-in counter that I've missed somehow?

I imagine it going in the "Insert code for counter and/or web stat tool" section of Styles etc.

What I don't want is one of those so-called "free" counters, unless of course someone here knows of one that is absolutely kosher?

Thanks
Terry

We also have the statistic plugin serendipity_event_statistics, which is delivered by core.
That one is simple and very kosher, as you don't share data with others. But on busy sites it may slow down, when fetching the backend statistic view page.

It seems the plug-in does only display weekly or monthly visitors, not all visitors without time limit?

Any way to switch off the time restriction?

It does not make any sense to extend Serendipity with any more extended analytic, which slows down the system the more visitors and entries you have. This Plugin does not distinguish between visits and visitors. Its more or like a hit counter.
Please use some independent tool like PIWIK http://piwik.org/ You will have much more fun with that.
