extended properties resetting

Post by auweia »

Hi, I have a strange problem. I have been using extended properties plugin 1.30 for some time and it was working fine

At some point a setting was changed so that all entries before a few months ago was marked as read permission for co-authors only, and all posts after that are public. Basically all posts before 2 months ago going back to 2006 are unreadable if I continue to keep the plugin going

I tried different settings for example un ticking 'extended database lookups' makes all those archives now readable for public, but can't make sticky posts anymore

Is there any way to convert all the older posts en masse into readable by everyone?/ Otherwise I'm facing over 1400 posts changing read permissions on each post one at a time. blog is at

http://www.bluoz.com/blog/

Thanks, Jeff

Sorry, I personally don't know.... and can't really imagine why this should happen suddenly...
I can access http://www.bluoz.com/blog/index.php?/ar ... 05/C9.html

The entryproperties hasn't changed for a while, so it must be something you must have set as the blogowner ... maybe in the plugins config...

"I am just guessing into the blue...:"
What kind of settings do you have set in the bottom readability (default_read, use_groups, use_users standard etc...) radio boxes?
Was there an admin user change a while ago, with different settings?
Are these old entries in some special categories?
Does the s9y_access table maybe prevent accessing them?

Ian

actually, I disabled extended entries for the time being, so now all archives are accessible. But if I activate extended entries again, then all posts prior to 2 months ago will be marked as 'co authors' only

there are no special categories or anything else that's different. The only difference is that two months ago, i think, I activated extended entries and somehow all previous entries were marked as 'co authors' but all posts after that were all public

Basically the only reason why i wanted extended entries was to sometimes make some old articles sticky, but if I use it then most old articles go offline as 'co author' only. It seems i can't have both at the same time

I'm wondering if there is a work around, either make all old posts as 'public' in bulk, or some other way to make some posts sticky

well, anyway, I'm currently converting all archived 'entries can be read by 'everyone' one at a time, all 1450....tedious work

this was I can keep extended properties as well, but maybe that would be a good plugin for the future, to make read permissions changeable for all posts in one single click

There must be some switch to do so...
I'll put that one the list to be discussed!

But if you disable entryproperties and there is all access again, it must be a entryproperties switch. Meanwhile you could check what exactly changes in the database, if set one of these old entries world readable. Then we could find a "bulk" way to proceed them all.

maybe even better to add some statistics so that owners can see which posts are marked public, because I didn't know untila friend told me, because I'm always logged in as owner..It wasn't until i switched to IE and not logged in that I could see all the older posts were not public anymore

Not sure how or why that changed, it just did. But it seems there are a few ways to make it easier to fix something like that

It';s that little button in extended properties for read permissions. Gotta watch that, it can be dangerous to wave that thing around..hehe
