My blog is blocked for no reason

Hello!

I have recently registered the blog odoepner.supersized.org. I have not even started using it and then I noticed that I was denied access to it.

When I try to login or access my blog I get redirected to http://www.supersized.org/spam.php where my private email address is listed as an alleged spammer address.

I am quite upset about these false accusations and of course I don't want my email address be presented on a public website!

I have not even used the blog and certainly not done anything that has even remotely to do with "spamming". I can only assume that this is a mistake.

I hereby demand to immediately take my email address off that list!

If you doubt my identity: My name is Oliver Doepner, I live in Halifax, Canada. This is my website: http://users.eastlink.ca/~odoepner/.

Like all free services, supersized is subject to spamming and hacking attempts, and Jannis is just one man. Unfortunately in situations like these a call often has to be made, and if an email address is listed in a blacklist server Jannis needs to be cautious. Remember, under the laws of many jurisdictions, the owner of the server can be held liable for allowing content onto the server that might contravene standards of legality or morality.

I'm not saying that you aren't justified in your demand, I just wish to answer one of your criticisms since Jannis himself isn't online. Believe me he will see this thread as soon as logs on, and he will investigate it very quickly, Jannis is a reasonable man and I'm sure you'll hear from him soon.

Hello Carl!

It's good to hear that the problem will probably be resolved.

My email is quite new and my name - which is on the left hand side of the address - is quite rare, so I don't think it's in a blacklist. I have never used it to send anything but personal email. What kind of blacklist are you referring to?

Anyways, Jannis' accusation is about abusing a supersized blog. And I would expect that's based on the content of the respective blog. My blog is/was empty, so I don't see what criterion he used to qualify me as a spammer.

Just to make very clear what this is about, here's a quote from http://www.supersized.org/spam.php:

These are the suckers who recently tried to abuse supersized.org to create spamblogs to advertise animal-porn, online-casinos, pharmaceuticals, make money out of this free service through adsense and the like (in violation of the terms of service ).

Then follows a list of email addresses including mine.

The first and only Google result for my email address (which I use as my primary address, including professional emails and job applications) is now that page.

That's damaging my reputation in an outstanding way and that's why I'm really pissed off. Just imagine a potential employer googles for my email address ...

hey,

i am sorry if your blog got blocked even though it is not spam. unfortunately, there's a lot of blogs each day that sign up and abuse our free service, so this forces us into this whole blocking thing.

of course your email should not be there when you really did not run a spamblock.

so just tell me the hostname that has been blocked and i will unblock it for you. you can email me at jannis@gmail.com or call me at (510) 316-7053

yeah, that and another one, i already unblocked them. i also see no reason why they might have been blocked, it must have happened by accident.

Jannis,

thank you for the quick reaction. I am relieved that this is now resolved.

And while I'm at it: I also want to thank you for the work you put into the supersized.org service and s9y.

Maybe this incident will help you to refine your procedures for spamblog detection?

have a good Sunday

well, the spamblock detection method goes like this: i check the lates signups and delete those that have porn/ads(casino,pills,world of warcraft gold,...)/linkspam

the weird thing is, that both of your blogs were completely empty. i don't know how it happened - i guess that's what we call human error.... good thing i am not working at a transrapid testarea's control center ;-)
