connection time out in PEAR.php?

on the next try, pinomatic-ping has success, but it is right to make an error in PEAR.php and stop the ping-process for the other services?

Sadly I don't understand the workings of that PEAR library, but it has also always bugged me that a timeout or connectivity issue breaks down the whole process.

Any help much appreciated! I'm out of clues.
