Plugins disappeared on changing theme

Hi... I have been a long user of supersized. I had mostly been using one theme and had customized my blog layout. Against my better judgement, I decided to try a different theme today.
However, as soon as the theme changed, all my plugins disappeared. :!:
Now, I have changed back to my old theme (serendipidity v3.0), but the plugins are still missing.
When I click on plugins in the admin area, the default set of plugins are shown, all my personalizations have disappeared.
Further, the statistics (serendipity_plugin_statistics, serendipity_event_statistics), autosave (serendipity_event_autosave) and suggest (serendipity_event_suggest) plugins have an error in the box. Even if I select these plugins and click on remove, the page refreshes and the plugins remain in the list. Have tried disabling advanced JS, but no changes.

Could someone help? I want my plugins back

PS> Is this normal behaviour? The plugins should be independent of the theme used..
PS> Just in case its needed, my blog is at http://technyou.supersized.org

Ooops.. I see from the previous post (Server trouble - http://board.s9y.org/viewtopic.php?t=11877) that 2 out of the three plugins that are showing errors have been temporarily been disabled.

Still, in my case, the sidebar itself has disappeared on the blog page.
