Serendipity integration into WDE

Post by oeli »

Hi,

I've been posting several questions on Serendipity integration in the past week, and thanks to the excellent support of Garvin, I managed to get a smooth integration of Serendipity into our WDE web development environment (at http://www.achievo.org/wiki/WDE).

The result can be seen on our new website: http://www.ibuildings.nl

The frontpage displays a small selection of blog items (a piece of custom code), and the source for the blog entries is http://www.ibuildings.nl/blog which is serendipity based, using the 'indexFile' option from the embedding docs (http://www.s9y.org/55.html).

I will try to get some documentation on our wiki about my integration experience, i.e. the difficulties I encountered. These were mostly related to the CMS and S9Y both using Smarty, some Serendipity settings I had to tweak and a problem with request variables with conflicting names (both s9y and wde use 'url' as a variable which caused some trouble).

But all in all, I was amazed with how easy it was to embed serendipity. Most php apps don't even allow embedding, and Serendipity has even got multiple ways.

So thanks again for the support!

Very nice integration, well done. Actually I really like the purple color scheme you've got for the whole site, it does look very good. Clean, compact page design, but filled with useful links without hurting the eye.
