The maintenance version of Serendipity, 1.7.2 has just been released.

Please note that the previous vesion 1.7.1 had a problem with the mysql-deprecation code that lead to an error. If you were affected by this, simply upload the 1.7.2 release (the only file that is changed is in include/db/db.inc.php - so you can also simply re-upload that single file). Thanks for Ian to pointing this out.

Have fun. :-)

. . .
How to use the Serendipity Autoupdate to update to new version 1.7.2:
  • install the Spartacus event plugin, if not already have
  • install the Dashboard event plugin,
  • install the Serendipity Autoupdate event plugin,
  • update all plugins, if any, via plugin management upper (slight rose) button links,
  • and point yourself to the backends startpage to start the automatic upgrade.
  • let it run, after end, you will be redirected to the upgrader/installer page
  • at last, you will have to start the database updates or update functions via button (auto recommended) or just take the link to the blog
If anything errors, come back to get help!

(Please note that the autoupdate plugin is an alternate way to upgrade s9y; the "old" way by uploading the new release files simply to your webspace is still possible of course :) )

Of course! I love old school!
I just thought this place would be a good thread to have this additional route pointed out to the public, since this is a quicky (in most cases a simple <= 3 minutes take) on quite a lot web server installations!

Have fun!
