Sidebar

Post by Hilde »

I'm new to serendipity and to php; this should explain a lot

For the last two days I have been trying to get my own style implemented in serendipity, but I keep running into a few problems...
1. the sidebar stays on the right...
2. I can't seem to change the sequence of the sidebar items
3. I want to get rid of the space between the header and the sidebar, and the space between the sidebar and the side of the page.
4. I want to add a 'description' bar where I can place my internal links to the rest of the site, AND I want to add links to the sidebar... (basically I want it to look like the rest of my website...
5. I really want to get rid of the xml buttons without the page displaying that ugly little cross that tells people there should be an image there (I tried replacing it with a blank gif, but that made things even worse.

Do I change these things in the index.html file?

I'm feeling rather clueless when it comes to php, but it is a good exersize to get my web design skills up to date

Anyway this is what my lay-out looks like now; after playing with the css files... http://68.164.97.138/~hilde/weblog/sere ... /index.php

Thanks for the compliment, however, I would love to add the description bar underneath the header (like on http://www.life-through-a-lens.nl)... Any ideas?

You'll have to either edit layout.php for that or use the 'embed' configuration for s9y, find more details here
