Entry images in timeline

Hi, I just installed serendipity on my VPS for starting a blog (http://www.meteomex/serendipity, soon http://www.winkler-lab.blog). Thank you very much for this great software! I use also WordPress, Joomla and Typesetter for other pages, but they are much more sluggish.
I like the timeline theme, but the entry image feature is troubling me. I enabled the entry plugin, but my images are not visible. At least, the default image for unavailable entry images disappears when a custom image is chosen.
1) Is there a way to disable entry images?
2) What are the specifications for entry images (location, size, type, name, ..)?
