Is all data retained when changing themes?

Post by youarentweird »

Assuming No data is lost with theme change , is this correct? just put my first site together and want to see what other themes look like, not sure if I should backup all the entries etc. before I change themes.
Thanks!

Some data can be theme specific... top things that come to mind are navigation menus, theme-specific entry properties and sidebar plugin assignments. In most newer themes, nav menus are global, so they work from one theme to the next. Sidebar items can be easily moved around after you switch themes.

If it seems you have lost something after switching themes, you should get everything back by switching back to the original theme.

Be sure to post a url to your site so we can all take a peek!
