I've installed it, and it works fine. Problem is, I can only seem to get it to appear in either the footer (very bottom) of my page, or in the header (just under the logo, but above the content).

Where would I place the code if I wanted to put it in one of the side bars? Is there a way to put it in an html nugget for one of the sidebars? If so, how?

Just place the mentioned code in your index.tpl file at the place where you need it - like at the top of the HTML body, or at the end?

I did that...and it appears in the places I mentioned. Any idea how to place it in a sidebar?

You could move it around the place where in your index.tpl the {serendipity_showSidebar} (or something like that) is shown?
