Serendipity is not an application framework like phpNuke or so. Comments can already be put within an entry, and there's a shoutbox plugin available which may work out for you.

But it could be easily done as a plugin, even though I guess that the need for this is low, since a guestbook doesn't really belong to a blog, as it has a different focus...

Not sure if I agree with you on there not being a need for it. But since I'm unable to code a plugin myself do to a total lack of knowledge I guess I'll just have to think of another way of my friends, relatives etc to leave me messages that are unrelated to the individual entries. Thanks for the shoutbox advice by the way, sadly it doesn't do what I'd like from it.

anyone feel like coding me a plugin?

Why does the shoutbox not work out for you? It may be easier to adjust the shoutbox to your needs than to create a new plugin...

Garvin.

I agree with Garvin that a guest book should not be part of a blog. Instead of a plugin, I'd suggest using s9y in embedded mode, and have links to different parts of your site using a navigation bar. One of the links would be to a guest book. Then you could also have links to gallery, cv, ....

A blog is a web log. So it's like a journal, or a news page.
