WYSIWYG editor

Post by vincem »

Hello,

I've just tried the alternate WYSIWYG editors as plugins but they are a bit bulkier and slower, plus new CSS display issues arise.

So I've decided to stay with HTMLArea. Could someone explain to me how to install plugins for it? I've managed to find the Character Map plugin that I wanted but can't seem to make it work. Assuming I've uploaded it correctly, how do I register it with HTMLArea? I think I've found the way to add a button for it, but I'm not sure it's necessary (the plugin might do that by itself?), and any way, my button is calling for a function that doen't seem to exist since as far as I can tell, HTMLArea isn't aware of the plugin's presence...

Thanks in advance!

Cheers, Vince.

Hi!

Actually I've never heard of htmlarea plugins, which one are you trying to include?

I guess you'll need to edit the WYSIWYG instanciation code found in include/functions_entries_admin.inc.php, function serendipity_emit_htmlarea_code() ?

Hmm, I forgot where I got that plugin; it's called Character Map. I was trying to install it following instructions I found on how to install the spell checker plugin, but obviously, I was missing something.

I've given up on it for now, it wasn't that important. It would, however, be a great addition to the editor; it would avoid having to write posts in accented languages in Word first, then unformat them and finally paste them into s9y...

Cheers!

Hi!

Actually, if you're using accented language you might best convert your blog to UTF-8 format? Serendipity supports that since 0.9, actually.

But being able to include plugins would be a nice way; but I personally don't use WYSIWYG editors, so I must admit that my motivation on this is a bit low :-D

Best regards,
Garvin
