Multilingual plugin updated...

Post by wesley »

Personally, I thought listing all 23 language options on the 'Choose
Language' sidebar plugin seem to be an overkill. I felt that it might be
misleadiing and/or confusing if the blog is only written in a couple of
languages using the multilingual event plugin and yet the language box
shows so many choices when all it does for the other twenty or so language
options is to change menu language.

Consider this: my blog is currently written in English and Korean only. Even
if there is a Chinese language option on the sidebar, using this option just
changes the labels on the blog front-end, while there is still no content
whatsoever written in Chinese. Maybe it will help a Chinese navigate my
blog easier, but there would be nothing for that person to read in Chinese.

Oh, yeah, and somehow Korean language is at the absolute bottom of the
list, instead of getting ordered alphabetically. Some Koreans visiting my
site thought there was no Korean option since it's buried all the way below.

So... I came up with a solution - let the blog administrator choose what
language options will be shown on the sidebar plugin's dropdown box.

The default option is all Yes. The screen capture shows my current setting:
English and Korean only.

It should appear on the web CVS soon, I hope. I have already committed
the file into it.
I make s9y plugins, too.
My s9y blog depends on them. :)
