RSS to Serendipity or Supersized Blog

Post by Attila »

Hi,
I'm looking for a plug-in or application which is capable to collect RSS feeds (from news, blogs etc.) - determined by keywords related to my blog, or by feed url - and post them (5-10-15 etc.) on a regular basis (hourly, daily weekly etc.).
As we have this option as a sidebar plug-in, it would be nice to have one for the main content as well. I know about one for Blogger and Wordpress but can't find anything for Serendipity.

It would be even better if this plug-in could handle product datafeeds too(xml, from affiliate merchants).

Please let me know if it is already available somewhere.
Thanks for your help.

Maybe you can use the serendipity_event_aggregator plugin? It only handles RSS 2.0, though. Parsing XML is always non-generic so you always need to create a special plugin for each XML format.

Thanks Garvin!
the link is broken to that plug-in and can't find any install and config instructions. Is there anybody developing that aggregator or something similar?

Thanks,

Did you try http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/p ... ggregator/ ?

Just install it and you'll get a new sidebar menu item "RSS Aggregator" which should be self-explanatory.

There are three people involved in the development of the plugin; Evan Nemerson, Kristian Köhntopp and myself.

Hi Garvin,
thanks again.
I have the RSS module in my sidebar installed already and working fine. The script I'm looking for is actually capable to post these feeds in the main area.
I don't know if this "RSS Agregator" you recommend is the same what I already have? I'll go have a look.
Thanks,
Attila
