No Flattr Button at New Posts

Post by lfrantzen »

Hi,

since my last post I do not see the Flattr button anymore at the post footer. In the "compact" style there is nothing visible, in the "default" style it shows the text "This Page":

Any clues?

Thanks and cheers,
Lars

I see a flattr button on that page. Browser issue? I was viewing it in FF4.

Hi,

I was about to write that the behaviour is very browser specific. I made a new post called "Test".

With "other" I refer to the post mentioned above:

Firefox 3.6.17:
"Test" post: correctly shown icon
"other": "This page" text is shown instead of the icon

IE 8:
"Test" post: correctly shown icon
"other": no icon at all
also other posts have missing icon here.

Android Browser:
all icons correct

Weird, really seems to be a browser problem,

Wild guess: maybe some relation to the flattr_dsc var? When this var is empty, meaning no text in the post at all, no icon is shown.
I find it a bit weird anyhow that this var stores the whole text of the post. There is some discussion here:
https://forum.flattr.net/showthread.php ... 3&pid=1083

So maybe the Firefox 3.6.17 transmits this var sometimes in a way which is rejected by flattr, due to special chars in the blog post? And IE8 does this even more often?

So maybe the problem could be solved by letting the plugin generate much simpler content of that var, avoiding special chars, atc?

Well, wild guess ;-)

Cheers,
Lars

Opera 11.11: both correct
Chrome 11: both correct
Firefox 4.0.1: both correct

Judging from a quick glance, there's no indication that this might be a CSS issue. Apart from that, I can't help much. :)

@Timbalu Cookies are enabled. also clearing the cache did not help.
@yellowled Since all recent browsers seem to work correctly I consider the case as closed ;-)

Still I find it a bit weird to copy the complete blogpost content into that var...

Anyhow,
thanks and cheers!

Update:

The text "This page", which Firefox 3.6.17 shows instead of the Flattr button was actually just the beginning of more text which was not fully displayed. Via copy-pasting it it revealed this:
This Page Cannot Be Displayed

The requested URL was too long and could not be processed. This may represent an attack on your network.
