Plugin Wish: Import Comments from Facebook
Re: Plugin Wish: Import Comments from Facebook
In the past the plugin worked with my fanpage. I thought anyone else can say if the plugin still works or not.

What do you mean with "in the past"? Nothing specific has changed on the s9y plugin end of it...maybe you made your fanpage protected, or facebook changed something in their API?!

Hello garvin,
does this plugin also work if you activate the option to use bit.ly to shorten urls of the rss grafitti generated posts?
cheers,
joe

Re: Plugin Wish: Import Comments from Facebook
I'm just asking, because rss graffiti converts the url like that http://www.mydomain.at/blog/index.php?%2Farchives%2F32-Annually-update.html
so to say it plain it makes %2F out of / and s9y can't handle it, because it just displays the main site.
thx,
joe

Re: Plugin Wish: Import Comments from Facebook
Hi!
Sadly this is a problem of Facebook - it always encodes those URL parts. There's nothing we can do about this - and rss graffiti pulls the links from the RSS feed, so you cannot use bitly URLs in there.
The only way I know to fix this is to enable URL Rewriting in your blog (which requires either mod_rewrite or Apache Errorhandling to work on your server, but that should work on most servers these days)
Regards,
Garvin

Re: Plugin Wish: Import Comments from Facebook
thx for the reply.
its possible for rss graffiti to use bit.ly to shorten urls. there is an option for that in settings and i always used it that way. but i think than it would be rather impossible for your plugin to know which post points to the blog, wouldn't it? or do you follow these links?

Hi!
Yes, that's true - the plugin currently requires the "real" URL of a blog to appear within the page.
What speaks against enabling URL rewriting on your blog?

Garvin

Hi!
http://joehat.flugzeugeimbauch.at/blog/ ... Joes!.html
but if you had URL rewriting enabled (in the s9y configuration) it would look like:
http://joehat.flugzeugeimbauch.at/blog/ ... Joes!.html
HTH,
Garvin
No, you did not enable URL rewriting - on your blog the links lead to:nuke01 wrote:i think i already have, but rssgraffiti grabs the odd one anyway...

Re: Plugin Wish: Import Comments from Facebook
Hi!
Once you have a 500 error, you can edit the .htaccess and remove mod_rewrite references.
Try to set it to "Apache errorhandling" instead of mod_rewrite and see if that works?
mod_rewrite is not related to PHP settings of your screenshot; this is an issue of the webserver itself. Maybe you can contact your hoster to ask how/if to enable mod_rewrite?

Re: Plugin Wish: Import Comments from Facebook
yeah you're right. with apache errorhandling it's working. thx for that. but i don't get why it shouldn't work with mod_rewrite, because it's activated on the server...
but anyway, it's working now, so i will finally get to test that wonderful new plugin of yours...

Re: Plugin Wish: Import Comments from Facebook
hi Garvin, All,
Is there any plugin that would work similar way to WP-FBConnect - to allow FB users to post comments on the blog with option of posting that to their wall?
Or I'd need to customize it myself?
Thanks,
Greg
