comment spamming

Post by Darren »

I'm running 0.8 beta2 with spam blcoker on.

Here is a clip from an email for medrating comments I get;

---
Weblog Name: internet poker
Link to remote-entry: http://genaholincorporated.com

Excerpt:
Destroying species is like tearing pages out of an unread book, written in a language humans hardly know how to read, about the place where they live. by

---

I have 'poker' and 'genaholincorporated' set as word filters and link filters and auto filters set to reject, why do I still get a email to moderate these spam coments? I have captchas enabled as well.

Can you advise me as to how to just reject this crap without the need to moderate? Btw I'm harassing the hosting company for the site.

Thanks, Darren

Sadly the wordfilter of the plugin had a bug which just got fixed.

It will be part of the beta3 release coming in a few days/hours.

If you're in definite need for the updated versio, fetch the plugin here:http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/p ... spamblock/

I've also noticed that the spamfilter takes some time to work. For me it took at least 8 hours until it blocked correctly the poker sites spammers...

But now, since end on january I haven't been spammed at all... Thanks s9y ! :D

I grab the latest plugin from cvs.

At the moment I have comments set to 30 mins before posting again, just to slow the trackbacks down.

Maybe they have some sort of automated tool for discovering/putting trackbacks in serendipity? I suppose is you target a blog via rss feeds, you can harvest old entries to link to. Could be the age old google serach for "powered by ..." and attack them.
