hi all,
i've tried to use a post with extended text, and after clicking to continue reading i got a
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 4194304 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 9268 bytes) in /home/.sites/99/site334/web/s/bundled-libs/Smarty/libs/Smarty_Compiler.class.php on line 1585
and page does not render ok
see in http://www.bleuge.com/s
i've read the forums, but i haven't seen this bug posted
other bug i got is after clicking in [click here to install a new event plugin], the page stops the render after showing half the left menu, and the rest is blank, any ideas?
also, i wish i could have a setting where i could say, "show only the first x lines in front page, and the rest in extended text"
don't you think it could be a good idea? i am a PHP coder, but still not looked the API, could this be made with a plugin?
regards and thanks for coding serendipity

Hi!
Hm, your PHP only allows a memory limit of 4MB. That is quite low as soon as you have some entries to work with. You should ask your provider to raise it to the default limit of 8MB.
The sidebar/plugin problem should be the same as that. You can lower memory usage if you use less event/sidebar plugins...
But, yes, it could be made with a plugin.
Regards,
Garvin.

Well, that's usually why there's a 'body' and an 'extended' text field is for, so that you can manually choose how many lines/characters to display?also, i wish i could have a setting where i could say, "show only the first x lines in front page, and the rest in extended text"

Well...no, the only way for you is then to remove some plugins and write shorter articles - I'm sorry. 4MB is way too little for many PHP applications...
