Linking to a comment sends a pingback

Post by yellowled »

Here's what I did to produce this … I'm actually not sure if this is a bug. Anyway:

1. Published an entry
2. Edited said entry without changing the timestamp to link from the entry content to a comment for the same entry (“As someone mentioned in the comments …”)

This sends a Pingback (why not a trackback is my first question, I don't actively use Pingbacks) to the same entry, i.e. the entry is pingbacking itself. That can't be intended, right? (Yeah, I know I can disable sending Track-/Pingbacks to myself altogether, but I actually like that. Just not within the same entry.)

Yeah, that's not indented. However not really easy to filter out easily... we can try to check the canonical URL of the target link with the one of the current entry, and remove everything after a "#" sign.

Would you be so kind to file a github bug for this?
