Forbidden Error when trying to change config file

Post by fivetownhoopdreams »

Hello all -

I have installed the latest version because I was getting an error when I tried to change any part of the config file - I get this:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /serendipity/serendipity_admin.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I checked the file and it is set to 644, if I change it, then I get this:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@fivetownhoopdreams.net and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I looked at URL rewriting, and it is selected to disable , even if I change it, I cannot get config file to safe.

Please help!

Rvglobalsoft is RvSiteBuilder, AFAIK.
RvSitebuilder uses a special, embedded, old and because of that merge, rather buggy Serendipity Build, with code changes we don't know about. Since this is like this we regret help.

Our standard answer: Install your own standalone copy of Serendipity - http://www.s9y.org/12.html - and do not use the RvSitebuilder quicky, since this will definitely lead into trouble. (If having some experiences, it will be more easy to bind the standalone installation to an existing site.)
