Comments not appearing

Hi I was wondering if you guys could help.

I have serendipity installed and it has been working fine for ages... yet up and till a while ago people could post comments and all was fine. Now i cant remember changing any settings that would effect this but i may however comments no longer post. This is from the webpage or if i am logged in and trying to post.

I tried removing the spam protector and reinstalling it ..... when i reinstalled it i started getting ping backs and trackbacks come for moderation (which i previously stopped) but the comments still wont post.

Any ideas ?

Well, without some more extended data, this will be hard to guess.
- Serendipity version, PHP & DB-Storage version,
- Which Spam related plugins are installed, version and in which order
- Other Plugins which may interact
- The link to your blog
- Exact error messages
- Related log messages
and so on.
Normally nothing changes, if not has something changed (by software, by server, by user).

spam protector 1.77 only as far as im aware.

When posting there is no error message the page refreshes but the comment is not there.
I was trying to make the posts yesterday although i noticed no new ones have not come in for a couple of months or so. No error log message from yesterday.

I have tried to update my version of serendipity but its always trying to create a new blog rather than update the exisiting, so have not been able to do it.

There seems to be a problem with mod_rewrite and the .htaccess file - you pagination does not work either:
Page 2 url http://mypchealth.co.uk/Blog/index.php?/P2.html changes to http://www.mypchealth.co.uk/Blog/?/P2.html addressbar without any effect in content.

What is you setting in configurations → Design & Options → rewrite option ?
Have a look what your .htaccess file has as content.
If you change/re-set the configuration option and save, the htaccess file should get a rewrite. Try that first (the .htaccess file needs to be writable!).

URL rewriting is disable ... i have not changed this setting.

Dont know if this helps but when i run installation verification i get this error :

templates/bulletproof/entries.tpl corrupt or modified: failed verification

No, that does not help, since that can be all kind of change. This also appears if you have touched that file once, without any real internal changes.

You should check out, why you got this strange behaviour in linking and htaccess. Investigating this will point to the issues.
(Your Serendipity configuration → path settings are?)

The access file contains:

and some spamdeny IPs which i assume are the default ones with spamprotector.

I turned on the URL rewrite and all the admin pages lost their style and turned it back off and it was all ok again.

i have never had to error check anything like this before so its a bit of a journey. Thanks for your help and patience.

Ok guys ... so i took a look at the domains .htaccess file.... I made a backup of it and removed the rewrite rules that were in there that reference my blog....

The comments now post.... i have to say i still dont exactly know what im doing but i bundled through and it worked now to somehow upgrade this version.

Well I asked some more question than you answered already.... (even if that all is pointing to something wrong with path & htaccess)

What about configuration → path settings?
Which kind of Server?
Did you ISP change anything? (Does he/she/it allow mod_rewrite?)
Is that CGI or Modules?
Did this htaccess content change, when you saved the configuration with mod_rewrite?
Even if not I would presume, this is not enough shown in your htaccess file.
