Disable trackback for certain post

Post by CapriSkye »

i've been getting alot of trackback recently to one of my entries, and that one only. the trackbacks were not going through because the entry is being moderated, and i just manually delete them. now it's getting annoying because i get them everyday.
right now there are no trackbacks to the entry, but it's showing i have 4294967295 trackbacks?!
the entry is here: http://www.capriskye.com/blog/archives/149-unknown.html

is there anyway to disable trackback for certain entry?
thanks

Wow, that is a huge number! You can browser your serendipity_entries table and adjust the counter for the "trackbacks" column, but I wonder how it got raised that number in first place.

Maybe you can check your serendipity_comments table and see how many entries you have for the entryid 149?

serendipity_comments has no entry_id 149.
so there's no way to disable trackback for specific entry?

You can set comments+trackbacks to be moderated for an entry, but you cannot disable it specifically. You can only globally disable trackbacks then.

However if that entry is the only one you're getting spam for, you could block it via .htaccess / mod_rewrite, if you have that?

this is getting weird, i've made the entry none accessible by guest, and i still getting trackbacks. and after several ones the trackbacks would show 4294967295 even though there's none.
pharmaceuticline.com is the one sending trackbacks, any idea who they are?

I too am getting a lot of trackbacks from pharmaceuticline.com. Is there a way perhaps to block the domain? It seems they change author so you can't block by that.

If you install the Spam Protector plugin, you can block by domain. But I don't know if it does trackbacks, or comments. Sure looks spiffy, though.

Incidentally, that number is the largest possible unsigned integer for a 32-bit value.

Using the Spam Protector stop most (if not all) of the trackback comments. I still get a notification in my email, but at least they don't make it to my entries.

I did notice that I'm starting to get alot of spam now to my Guest Book plugin. Perhaps using captchas is in order.
