Is there any way to limit how much the main page shows from a post?

In other words, if the post is really long, the home page would have something like "read more", which would link to the post page and show the whole thing?

Most (but not all) themes will work as you described if you use the post's "extended body" for the portion you want to see after a visitor clicks on a "read more" link, and use just the "entry body" for the intro portion of the post.

Interesting - I hadn't thought of that. I tried to use the entrysplit plugin for this but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Extended body works as expected....now I know!
