CDN

Post by danst0 »

Hi,

I haven't found any topic on CDNs in the forum yet. What are your thoughts? Is someone using his s9y blog with it?
For me it would be out of speed considerations, on some speed tests online I got terribly slow connections (15-30 sec) from the US and Asia (both also my main visitors).

Daniel

ps. Has someone tried to use dropbox as a free CDN yet (http://www.irnovo.com/2011/05/make-drop ... n-for.html)?

I haven't tried it. It's a logical thing to do for very big sites, don't think a typical blog needs something like that. And it would probably not totally easy to use one, espeacially for the static content served by plugins.
Regarding Dropbox as CDN: Do they have such a distributed network? Did you try your speedtests with files hosted on dropbox?

Try using cloudflare?
It works rather well in speeding up my site globally.

I'm about to do a post on it, but I'll mention it here as well. I'm getting great performance using MetaCDN - http://MetaCDN.com.
