simple forum ideas?

I have run a few different full featured forum packages in the past but would much rather have something simple that I can integrate into Serendipty as a lilnk below each article that would write the article title as a new post title or if already there, just add threaded replies. I have found that using things like SMF makes it complicated with double registrations and double logins which people just dont want to hassle with. It's like the 3 bears. The comment threading is too cold, the PHP MSLQ is too hot and I need whats JUST RIGHT.

Thanks I read that over and it was the issue at hand! I think its that issue of the law of large numbers.
THEY say that you need about 3000 visitors a day to make comments or a forum truly viable on its own.
Got a ways to go! That number I hear is also about where lots more advertizing opportunities open up.
