As most people know, s9y-users.com is no longer being maintained, and the "Who Is Using" page is severely outdated.
One of the main reasons I adopt anything is by examples. If there are no current examples of people using s9y, people will think that s9y might not be a good weblog script, which is far from the truth!
I know there is the "Showcase" forum on the board, but who takes the effort to check the Showcase forum from the s9y homepage?
Therefore, I believe Serendipity needs an updated directory of who is using it. This doesn't necessarily need to be a new domain. Of course, some one will need to go through the submissions and Garvin is busy enough as he is!
What do you guys think?

I'd really welcome it if we had an updated "who is using" section.
If you know of any goodsoftware to maintain this easily, we could install it on the webpage. It needs to be somehow spam-aware with approval mechanisms (maybe also captchas),and of course it would be lovely if we found a few people who could maintain it:)

We could check for the "serendipity_admin.php" file and if it returns a valid page.
Cookies are not set, and possible HTTP headers can be configured to not show up.

PHP Link Directory is what Carl was using for the s9y-users domain when that was a directory....
No offense to anyone, but I sincerely question the value of such a listing.... it has to be maintained, and who really cares? Few bother posting their sites in the showcase forum, and Carl never really got too many participants when he was running php link directory.
And what is to prevent a new list from becoming way out of date? People switch to a different cms.... kill their domain completely... etc.
It seems to be one of those things that looks great in concept, but falls apart quickly in reality. Just my opinion, of course!

I think maybe the easiest way is for Garvin to install an RSS feed mod for the phpBB forum and parsing the "Showcase" forum feed as the new "Who is using" page. Although, that alone sounds like work!

I admire your commitment tpost! I know s9y is not dead, and like you, I am doing my little bit to help. I wish I could do more, but my skills are exceptionally limited.
I agree there are many things about the s9y blog, wiki, and this forum that are massively out of date.... I think that if, and/or until, we do have any form of directory in place, the "who is using" link and wiki page should be eliminated. I think I was given the ability to do that, but I think others, particularly Garvin, or even Janis (you out there dude?) should provide input on that sort of thing.
In fact, looking at the homepage, I cannot seem to find more than a few pages that are NOT seriously out of date.
Documentation is going to be something we are always going to be behind on... I accept that.
But I think we need a fresher look... it does not have to be a radical re-design (but thats not a bad idea either).. but we could start by updating pages that should remain, and eliminating those that serve little purpose.
