Changing absolute paths

Post by Andyman77 »

Hiya All,

My hosting company had a fantastic idea to change the harddisk my site was all, oh the pure genius of the idea!
Of course, when the drive gets changed so does the absolute path to the whole site.

So my path has changed from
/mounted-storage/home7/...
to
/mounted-storage/home22a/...

I started with my brothers site, wanted his site up first. In the DB I changed all references to home7 with home22a but I get the following error:

Cannot write to directory /mounted-storage/home22a/.../templates_c. Please check the permissions.

The permissions are set to 777 so no permissions issue has been transfered over.

Hopefully there is an easy solution to this problem.

TIA,

Andy

Remove all the files from that directory and try again.

You might want to try changing the permissions to 755; I remember someone once had a problem where his webserver would security-reject anything with 777. Then again, I could've been just imagining it: it was in my early days...

Hiya Judebert,

Humm, not a clean solution but a solution.
I have removed the file serendipity_config_local.inc.php, hence forcing a re-installation of S9Y. This is also a 'dirty' way to fix as It also means losing all my settings. So I thought, OK, I'll backup my old settings, and re-import them back in and I'll be back all OK and everything would be fine.
However, I get the permission denied errors back again when I restore the old config db settings.

A bleedin' nightmare.

Ok, I've redone the forced installation and followed it through.
All is ok is back up and running now....
Sheesh... 4 more sites to fix... (2 test sites and 2 live ones...)

I'm going to have a quiet word in the host bosses ear.... Something about, kneecaps... and baseball bats... 8)

glad all is ok now... phew...
