Oh, your theme is also not loading? This looks like a configuration issue. It points to http://, while the site is https://. Have a look into the blog configuration and make sure that the blog url is set as https://UrlToBlog.

Hm. You really just get immediately a 403 permission denied. I'm not the most familiar with that, but usually this happens because of the .htaccess really blocking that directory. Can you have a look at the files in your server and check whether there is a .htaccess file in the archives/ folder (which is supposed to be empty)?

The archive folder contains a .empty file and that is it.

Then it might be in the .htaccess of your webroot, one folder above. Or in the webserver configuration.

I checked Serendipity and the plugins and I do not see one place where a 403 might be triggered from, so I really think this has to be server specific.

Thank you onli, I'm reaching out the webhost to see if they have any idea or errors trying to reach that page. I'll let you know how it goes.

but to drill down a level, they become inaccessible.

The categories page is also blocked by a 403.

Ah, one thing to test: mod_rewrite. Serendipity has an option for "nice" looking urls without the `index.php?`, those are used here. You could deactivate that option. It's under Configuration -> Design and Options (or similar, I've got the german version in front of me, third configuration menu from the bottom). It probably says "Use apache mod_rewrite" right now.

I just stumbled over https://www.krakovic.de/wordpress-htacc ... ermeldung/, which explains that trying to use mod_rewrite while it is not active can lead to 403 errors. And that's the only source of 403 errors in Serendipity I am (now) aware of.

I guess I need to look into why that stopped working.

Final post (I think!). After simply toggeling the mod_rewrite setting the URL for the archive is working normally! Yay! All fixed and thank you so much for all your help onli!
