a couple of plugins have probs

Post by defacto7 »

I'm a semi newbie. My blog in general is working great. Looks great. Most plugins work perfect. There are a couple of others that just don't go anywhere. I am going to pick just one of the problem ones to start. Maybe the problem is the same kind of thing throughout and I'll be able to figure them all out.

First of all... "discussion forum" plugin. The administrative part is all intact and there don't seem to be any problems there... but where is the forum? There's no link to it. I figured I could link to the default URL listed in the admin, but it doesn't work. The default upload directory "file" that is part of that plugin installation doesn't exist. The basic plugin files are all where they are supposed to be.

How do I call it up on the main blog? I am not using the phpBB mirroring which I understand is optional.

Am I missing out on some setup procedure or something? I would appreciate it if you could help me figure this out. Sorry, it's probably a simple solution and I just don't get it.

My installation... Linux my own server, mysql, and I'm using firefox browser.

Thanks

BTW, I'm not using mysql data base for this plugin... seems optional too.

Hi!

Some of the older plugins, especially the unmaintained ones like "forum" depended on a more specific URL like: http://yourblog/index.php?serendipity[subpage]=forum (or whatever "shorthand URL name" you configured in the forum).
