Hi ray,
tell me, when you log in your ftp server are you straight in the "html" folder or do you log in a directory above/below?

Ok, sorry I think i found my mistake: I installed it again and changed the standard paths slightly:
When a path relates to http or browser: use /
When it related to windows file system: use \
Sounds trivial, i know.
BTW: Thanks for the nice blog system!

Re: login reappeares when navigate tru menu
Hi, I'm having the same problem. I can login, but any link brings me back to the login screen.
I'm on an Apache server, have upgraded to php5, sessions are enabled, the session path is the same as it is for another successful installation, cookies are enables, the cache has been cleared, I've reinstalled serendipity several times, and again and again I'm seeing the login screen.
Any ideas what might cause the problem?
Thanks,
Eddy

Hi!
Did you change anything in your setup after it worked the last time? Or what do you mean when you refer to a working installation?
Regards,
Garvin
Whic s9y version are you using? Did you maybe try, just to be sure its not cookie related, to try with another browser?alltag wrote:Tried that on several browsers and several machines.

Do you have more than one instance of serendipity on the same domain?alltag wrote:...the session path is the same as it is for another successful installation...

Re: login reappeares when navigate tru menu
The problem is solved. My laziness kicked me in the ass. Serendipity doesn't seem to write cookies if you omit www from the domain -at least on this server configuration, with the default s9y configuration- except the PHPSESSID cookie.
So,
http://www.mydomain.com/serendipity_admin.php works fine, while
http://mydomain.com/serendipity_admin.php keeps bouncing you back to the admin screen because it checks for user level cookies and can't find them.
Not sure if I missed this somewhere in the documentation, but thanks for your replies.

Re: login reappeares when navigate tru menu
Hi!
To do that, you need to enable "Autodetect HTTP-Domainname" in the s9y configuration; if you don't, s9y will only properly "listen" to the domain that is configured.

Garvin

I wish I could see how these folks actually fixed this. I just did a fresh install and came up with the same thing. Nothing appears to change the back to log in re-direct.
Thanks-

Hi deepspace!
Did you check your cookies, and if PHP sessions are enabled? What's your domain name?

Garvin
