Yeah, I know.

The reason I want to get rid of some stuff is because I'm approaching the limits on my server, and my first year of blogging was pretty much a non-event. lol

Pruning Old Posts

Is there an easy way to go back and prune old, outdated posts in Serendipity? Say like have it auto-delete posts over x-amount of days old (I'm thinking around a year ago)?

Registered members only can comment

This has probably been asked already, but I'm gonna ask again. I know we can set up some type of sign-up deal for users, but I'm not sure how to set it up so that they are just able to post comments, and not actual posts. Can someone guide me through what to do here? The last thing I want is readers...

Ok, did that...but here's another question: It seems that some of the captcha images are randomly generated somehow. As in different colors. Also, when I look at the "properties" of the images, it shows their location as being something like "mywebsite/index.php?/plugin/captcha_49657e...

Captcha Question

I've had numerous complaints about the captchas on Serendipity. Some users are saying (and I can totally see this) that the "X" looks like a "K" sometimes, and vice-versa, and the "H" also will look like a "K" sometimes. Is there anyway to edit these images (o...

The guy running the Wordpress site says the problem is on his end, so that's not a big deal. The two MT sites think it's because of a recent MT update, but they don't know what would be causing it. I had no trouble doing a trackback before, and it just so happens that they updated about the same tim...

Trackbacks and Movable Type

I have a question. I did a clean install the other day of Serendipity, and ever since then I've been having trouble with sites that use MT in creating trackbacks. I get a "success" message, but the links never show up on their site. I've also had this problem with one Wordpress site. I've ...

To clarify

Not sure I explained what's going on all that well. In a brand new installation, I want to enable the captcha plugin. Trouble is, it's nowhere to be found. I went into my spam blocker settings and enabled it, but nothing happens. I've changed the colors. Nothing. I did a clean install because my web...

Captcha plugin--where is it?

Hi.

I just did a fresh install of this to a new site, and there's no captcha plugins. I tried enabling them through the anti-spam plugins, but they don't show up.

Was the plugin deleted because of the Askimet plugin, or am I missing something?

Thanks!

Thanks for the rundown on those. I think I may have been blocking some legit ones based on the criteria you just said. I've set them all to "No". I figure, akismet and the blacklist should be able to block most spam, and only a very tiny amount will come through to me, and I can deal with ...

I'm not sure how it's treating them, to be honest. I just got done going through the logs, and I'm not seeing his trackback, whether rejected or moderated. I do see a ton of rejected and moderated spam that never reached my inbox, if that helps; mainly dealt with by the akismet and blogg.de Blacklis...

That's the problem....I'm not receiving notifications of legit trackbacks being denied. And it is set up to notify me. I'll have to comb through my logs to find instances of legit trackbacks being denied and the reasons for them. The reason I mention this, was I had a guy who used MT do a trackback....
