Default Pattern for Apache Mod_Rewrite

After sweating for some time I finally figured out why URL rewriting does not work as it theoretically should in my setup. You are using "-" as literal character in many default patterns for the Mod_Rewrite RewriteRules for Apache. However, that syntax to escape "-" has been intr...

Re: SEO / Permalinks / Duplicate Content

"# BEGIN s9y" and "# END s9y" lines were markers used by s9y to determine what to replace each time That might be true, but I am changing inside the lines S9Y updates. If I move or copy them to outside I'll get conflicting duplicates/variations(*) => not good . (*) ... sort of

Re: how to remove dot and comma from entry-url

@stm999999999 I have the answer for you. When you configure those arrays in the local configuration file it replaces the arrays defined inside the function. It does not add to it. Re: SEO / Permalinks / Duplicate Content

Great!

Just saw the following Event Plugin.

HTML Link Metatags

Inserts link rel="start|up|prev|next|canonical" metatags into your frontend for better navigation.

Author: Garvin Hicking; version: 1.4; (Spartacus)

That's of course the ultimate solution.

Re: how to remove dot and comma from entry-url

$GLOBALS['i18n_filename_from'] = array(',', '.'); $GLOBALS['i18n_filename_to'] = array('', ''); And how could I force the {$entry.link} to be all lower case (just for display purposes)? No idea if you have seen my post SEO / Permalinks / Duplicate Content Yours John Update: Looks like messing with ...

SEO / Permalinks / Duplicate Content

Hi folks, I just changed my permalink structure to be more SEO friendly and I'll explain how I keep old URLs working at the same time AND make sure that Google and other search engines are happy — even more happy than in the past. You find a great tip from Google at the very end of this post. Howeve...

Hmmm. Doesn't FeedBurner (or some other RSS service) visit the blog on a regular basis?... Absolutely, yes. Google's feedfetcher is the most persistent one I have ever seen. All you need to do is to subscribe to the Blog in Google Reader, and then it comes, and it comes, and it comes,... I have del...

Hi Garvin, Gimmel! I appreciate you're getting back to me. Shame on me that I didn't check the current list of available plugins first. Mobile Output plugin , good to know, I might check it someday. If that doesn't work well enough one might be able to add media detection and forwarding into the ind...

...Making the comment mail a template should be doable, I added it to the list. @johncannary: There is both a include PHP event AND sidebar plugin so that you can inject PHP code includes. Using a mail template is as fine as it can get. Great. The sidebar plugin should work fine for me. Look here ....

Re: Some Requests

Hi Gimmel! Hi Garvin & Co.! I agree with you that S9Y is a superb piece of software. Thanks to Garvin & Company. Seems like Garvin has become a synonym for S9Y. I also appreciate that Garvin stated to some change/feature request earlier, "No way,... S9Y is about compatibility!" . A...

Another possible USP

Hi judebert!

Thanks for the great write-up and the insights.

Let's not talk Garvin & Co. out of developing, but I am sure
they know anyway why and what they are doing it for.
