When I uninstall the plugin everything works fine. I just did. I didnt change anything else. And sorry, I dont have anything to say about mod_rewrite. I use the same configuration that works fine elsewhere.

After install (with ne latest nightly built) it screws up all templates. See here.

.htaccess files are usually not shown by ftp programms. or you have to enable the programm to show these files. often a file shows up you had no idea that it was there.

Go to the "configure plugins" menu. Choose "Click here to install a new event plugin". Then you can select the plugins you want to install. Note: The list there shows only plugins that you already installed to you server, like those ones included in the default installation. But ...

I would give it a try. I have installed Serendipity for a few times and everytime without any problems. Sorry I cant tell you more, I´m only a user myself. I´m sure Garvin (one of the developers) will show up later today. I guess he will be able to help you.

Ok so if I go to www.lookresearch.com/serendipity I´ll end up in the root directory and there of course is no serendipity_admin.php! But it´s there in the serendepity directory. You can acces it directly if you go to www.lookresearch.com/serendipity/serendipity_admin.php so maybe you got a redirecti...

I get this error message:

Not Found
The requested URL /serendipity_admin.php was not found on this server.

So it looks like at least this file (or even some more) is missing. Maybe something got wrong with the upload? Please check if all files are where they belong.

if you call your serendipity directory with your webbrowser the install page should show up.

Ich denke daß auch reine Textdarstellung reicht. Den ganzen Funktionsumfang z.B. von phpbb o.Ä. muß man nicht mitnehmen. Da kann man dann gleich auf die enstprechende Forumssoftware zurückgreifen. Mein Interesse gilt da eher einem System, daß auch schnell eingefügt werden kann und das gleiche Templa...

Ich meinte nur, bevor nun u.U. noch ein komplettes Forumsystem geschrieben wird könnte man auch auf bereits bestehende Anwendungen zurückgreifen. Vorausgesetzt das ist technisch nicht zu kompliziert. Ich gebe aber zu, daß es ein einfaches Forumsystem auch täte.
