Install on new server fails

Hi, I recently changed hosting providers and after failing to migrate my blog, I attempted a fresh install. I get through the install process fine with green flags, but when the time comes to "go to my blog", I get nothing but a blank page. I've tried and re-tried, must be missing somethin...

Hello Peter,

I'm having the same issue with GoDaddy, they've suspended my account after a one week warning. I'm hoping they'll let me back in so that I can do something about it... How did you get your issue fixed?

Cheers,

Vince

Spam attack, help needed!

Hello, My Serendipity blog seems to be under spam attack and my hosting provider has suspended my account for server over-utilization. Assuming they allow me back in, I must disable all commenting (and maybe trackback too) functions completely if I don't want to lose the site, not being able to affo...

Ok, thanks to a few of you, I now know that comments from Macs sometimes work. So the issue seems limited to specific Mac users. jhermans , the spamblock log reported this in one case: [2006-06-18 04:52:35] - [REJECTED: Invalid captcha (Entered: jzmnx, Expected: )] - [#244, Name "Sigrid", ...

Interesting, I wonder if the same kind of thing could be responsible for my own Mac trouble. I'll have to find more Mac users and try to figure out how many manage to leave comments...

Thanks for the feedback, wagwag. I seem to remember getting captchas of 3, 4 and 5 characters, but I'm not 100% sure. I'll look into it though because you're right, maybe something is going wrong at that level. As far as the letters appearing in 5 different images, no, never seen that on my Serendip...

Hello Garvin,

They report using Safari and having cookies enabled. I've disabled the captchas temporarily and they have managed to comment, so I know it's the captchas and not spamblock as a whole...

I love version 1.0, by the way! Great job! :-)

Oops, sorry, you're too fast for me ;-)

I'm in the process of upgrading the blog to v. 1.0 final, it'll be over shortly! By the way, I've disabled the captchas for the first 5 days, so if testing from a Mac, you'd have to comment to a post that's at least 5 days old.

Cheers!

Trouble posting comments with captchas enabled on Mac

Hi, My visitors are reporting being unable to leave comments from their Mac when the captchas are enabled in the SpamBlock. Has anybody had this problem before? I searched the forum but didn't come up with anything relevant to my issue... Using s9y 1.0Beta2 but it happened on previous versions too. ...

Hmm, I forgot where I got that plugin; it's called Character Map. I was trying to install it following instructions I found on how to install the spell checker plugin, but obviously, I was missing something. I've given up on it for now, it wasn't that important. It would, however, be a great additio...

WYSIWYG editor

Hello, I've just tried the alternate WYSIWYG editors as plugins but they are a bit bulkier and slower, plus new CSS display issues arise. So I've decided to stay with HTMLArea. Could someone explain to me how to install plugins for it? I've managed to find the Character Map plugin that I wanted but ...

Got it! Not really sure how I fixed though. I took what you said for granted (path-related issue), uninstalled the plugin, reinstalled it, and tried every path configuration methodically. And on my second attempt, it was working. I could swear I'd tried that one before, but oh well, it works! Thanks...

Trouble using TinyMCE - Whole blog appears in emoticons popu

I've just browsed through most TinyMCE-related posts in here and can't seem to find an answer to my problem, so I'll post yet another cry for help ;-) I've just installed TinyMCE and finally got a relative path to it into the plugin that actually makes the new entry page load correctly with TinyMCE ...

Hello, Same as most, using v.1 b1 and finding it stable and great. I like the new site design much better than the old one, great progress. Think it could be worked on a little more; as it is, it gives an impression of simplicity , which is definitely one of s9y's greatest aspects. But s9y is also i...
