Warnings and info messages on my index page

Hi, I'm getting some info and warning messages on the front page. They seem to have started all by themselves, and am wondering if I did something to cause this (so that I can undo it :) ). Here are the info: Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /var/www/vhosts...

Re: Does this include files using echo file_get_contents

Thanks guys. Not being a regular PHP coder I'm not sure what this means. I'm guessing they are simply trying to avoid making an HTTP request through the server when including PHP code/data? Just a speculation like I say. They let me add the necessary flag for both by adjusting my ht file, and really...

Does this include files using echo file_get_contents

Hi, I'm guessing this answer is out there, but I'm stumped on how to search it. My hosting service would like to upgrade me. They say they'd prefer for PHP scripts to include files like this: <? echo file_get_contents("http://example.com/somefile.html"); ?> They say they would allow me to ...

e-mail to admin when author makes an entry

Is there a way to do this?

I have it set up to only allow new registrars to make drafts. Is there a way to send me an e-mail to the admin when they save it, or log out, mayhaps?

Re: An entry index numb var available from the template?

Also, for lurkers who may be setting up their own small-twitter urls: You will need to include a trailing dash after the $entry.id number. (e.g., ".../42-.html" i.e., "...{$entry.id}-.html"). I didn't go back and look to see why the mod_rewrite rules require it, but it is easier ...

Garvin,

Thanks. I'll look into that when time permits.

An entry index numb var available from the template?

I have spent quit a bit of time searching, and have even tried "$entry.index" just to see if anything displayed. I am working on a set of share/bookmark/tweet buttons, and have tripped over the twitter 140 character (SMS, of course) limit. I made my own small-urls by using truncate:19:&quo...

Re: Adding Facebook's Like buttons

Hi, I also manually set up a facebook share button, with an eye to adding twitter, digg, and myspace in the future. I mainly went this route before looking for a plugin because, well, I'm a geek, and I like knowing how something works before I use it. :) ---------------------------- Update (of makin...

Tags for content, Categories for security?

Hello again. Just to bring this older topic up to date. I was wondering how to use the categories for both context and for security, and was having trouble coming up with a security-strategy in the face of the overloaded category (responsible for both security and context). With a lot of help from y...

Change 'Next' / 'Previous' to 'Older' / 'Newer'

Hello, The index pages (the one with multiple entries) display the labels "Next Page >>" and "<<Previous Page". I'd like to change them to "<< Older Entries" and "Newer Entries >>" respectively (or something similar). But I'm not sure how to do that. It looks ...

Re: Newbie: serendipity_event_entrypaging Third placement option

Garvin, More clarification: The "forward" link misses the latest entry in any list, whether categories or all. That is: If there are five entries and you go to individual entries on the most recent one you will see a "back" link. Follow that link to the next one, and there will s...

Re: Newbie: serendipity_event_entrypaging Third placement option

Garvin, re: "I'm currently lacking a test-environment to do this with, but... " I may have been insensitive and thoughtless there. If you need a testing environment, my site is currently not getting visitors (beyond the usual comment spammers). Sorry, if this is what you were getting at. I...
