admin login fails on new database
I've just changed my ISP and installed a copy of my database on the new server. I also installed the current issue of Serendipity. I can see the blog OK but I cannot log in to administer it; I am told the username or password is wrong. I deleted Serendipity and reinstalled it but the same thing happ...

Re: Make a local copy of database as backup?
Sorry - I edited my last post when I found the answer to my question. The method of using the program is not very intuitive at all but it is nicely explained here: http://www.siteground.com/tutorials/php-mysql/mysql_export.htm There are actually two files on my database: acampbell.sql and informatio...

Re: Make a local copy of database as backup?
OK, thanks; I googled a useful step-by-step guide to how to save a copy locally and this seems to have worked.

Re: Make a local copy of database as backup?
Yes! Hosting services giving you php and mysql to hand, should normally give access to some database administration tool, like it is PhpMyAdmin. There you can easily export the whole database. Maybe its worth truncating the spambloglog table first. I have PhpMyAdmin but I don't see how to use it to...

Make a local copy of database as backup?
Is there a good way to make a local copy of my database that would allow me to upload it to a new server if that became necessary?

Many thanks - yes, that was it. I had spell-check selected but also, oddly, Catalan!

Editing posts has wavy red line under all words
When I edit a post I get a wavy red line under almost all the words. Actually the same is happening as I'm writing this. It doesn't make the screen unreadable but it is slightly annoying. Any explanation for this?

Re: How do spam comments avoid my spam filter?
A way, how the spam is done: http://behind-the-enemy-lines.blogspot.com/2010/12/mechanical-turk-now-with-4092-spam.html I've just found that my query about captcha evasion is answered in the Serendipity documentation. Options for you: .) Afair there is an option, that the given email adress has to ...

How do spam comments avoid my spam filter?
For the third time in recent months I'm getting a lot of spam comments and need to block comments temporarily. I assume that these are being posted automatically rather than manually, in which case I don't understand how they get round the requirement to copy the scrambled code before posting. Anyon...

Re: Where do I put statcounter code?
Thanks to both for replies. In the end I put the code at the bottom of templates/default/index.tpl and that is working.

Where do I put statcounter code?
I found a post here saying statcounter code should go in templates/bulletproof/index.tpl. I don't understand the syntax of this file very well. Whre should the code go - at the end?

Re: New installation reports lots of errors
How do you replace the files "one by one"? Also with your ftp-client? Always upload your file in binary mode. Thank you - it's possible that I mistakently changed to ascii for the upload. Anyway, I'm now able to replace the faulty files and the errors are being fixed bit by bit, so I thin...

Re: New installation reports lots of errors
Thanks for the reply. I don't think it is the ftp client (ncftp), because replacing the files one by one doesn't eliminate the errors. I couldn't find anything relevant with search.
I'm glad it isn't the version number (I just wish I knew how you can tell - I can't see it anywhere.)!

New installation reports lots of errors
I just made a fresh reinstallation of Serendipity in a new directory. Everything seemed to go correctly and the site seems to be working. But "Verify installation" produces lots of errors of this form. # plugins/serendipity_event_spamblock/captcha_a.png corrupt or modified: failed verifica...
