Re: Block comments from a particular IP?

Thanks for this useful link. Actually, I've just found that my ISP (Zen) has a facility on their cpanel which does this as well.

Best wishes,

Anthony

Block comments from a particular IP?

Thanks to previous advice here I can now block all comments. But when I open comments again after several days I find I am still getting lots of spam comments from one IP. Is there any way to block these? I installed Spamblock[SURBL] but there is no spanner symbol to configure it. Is this possible?

Re: Spam comments although comments disabled

Thanks for the quick reply. I've uploaded the file from the link you gave and am waiting to see if it stops the flow of spam.

Re: Comment notification not working

Yes, thanks very much for your help - it's now working. The problem was that I was using my standard email address with my domain name (ac@xxxxxx.co.uk), when what the server wanted was ac@myserver.co.uk. Using this makes everything work. I will take it up with the server people to get it fixed prop...

Re: Comment notification not working

I must be doing something stupid but it still doesn't work. I uploaded the script and accessed it with the browser, but the code doesn't run, it just appears on the screen. I tried with two different browsers. What I meant about the email address is that there is a place to enter my email address, i...

Re: Comment notification not working

I don.t think anything has changed on my server and I have my email address in the config file.

I'm very sorry, I don't know how to call the test.php file. Do I have to upload it to the server or can I do it locally? If so, how?

Comment notification not working

I am not receiving email notification when a new comment is posted. I just tried making a comment myself and again nothing happened. I do have this option enabled in Config. It used to work some time ago so I don't know why it has stopped now. The only change I have made is to disable Captcha verifi...

captcha problem - can't get by

Someone who posts comments on my blog from time to time has emailed me to say that he couldn't get past the captcha. I tried myself and the same thing happened to me. Is there a bug in the plugin? I've turned of captchas for the time being.

Re: admin login fails on new database

OK, finally got it! Thanks to everyone for replies, espcially Garvin. I finally realized (a bit slow on the uptake, you see) that the exported database brings its login stuff with it, so I simply needed to use the same username and password as on the previous server. Sorry to make such heavy weather...

Re: admin login fails on new database

What should I put in serendipity_config_local.inc.php? The credentials for the db server on your new server. Usually, you should only have to change dbName, dbUser and dbPass. If you're using url rewriting, it often helps to turn that off and on again after the first login to make s9y rewrite the ....

Re: admin login fails on new database

Hi! What you should do now is to start from scratch; copy over all of the files of your old server to the new one, copy all the old database tables to the new server, then edit serendipity_config_local.inc.php and it should work... Regards, Garvin I thought I'd done that. I made a copy of the data ...

Re: admin login fails on new database

I get an error with test.php: Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /data01/c4909627/public_html/serendipity/test.php on line 8 done. As to what I do, I just go through the usuall installation process, inserting a username and password as demanded. I tried with a different browser - no...

Re: admin login fails on new database

Sorry for replying to myself, but I just tried with an empty database and everything is fine - I can enter admin. But of course there is nothing in the blog. How can I now insert my database without messing everything up?

Re: admin login fails on new database

I should really have posted this in Installation, but anyway, I am getting nowhere. I still can't log in to administer the blog. Fix.php seems to be for upgrades, but anyway I don't have it. Following an earlier post by Garvin I thought the problem might be that I had earlier made repeated installat...
