Captcha Killers ?
I've been getting spam comments from sites/addresses that have names like this: CaptchaSucks BypassCaptcha Bypass-Captcha Captcha-Bypass captchaboss newdecaptcher Does this mean character recognition technology has finally obsoleted the captcha? I've been collecting IP addresses and denying them in ...

Re: Comments not in moderation but not displaying
Garvin,
Thanks. Interesting. Can you tell me the name of the setting for that, and how that looks to the SENDER in normal use? I added a test comment without seeing that (unless that is what the captcha is doing?).

Comments not in moderation but not displaying
Hello, I've noticed this problem since moving my blog to a new hosting provider, but it may have been there and been un-noticed before that. It shows comments in the admin->comments facility that "seem" to be approved. That is, it displays the "moderate" button, not the "app...

Re: Moving old installation to new installation accross serv
Garvin, et al.
Two moved blogs.
Everything seems to be working fine...
Needed the following when it told me it would no longer take my MD5 password:
http://board.s9y.org/viewtopic.php?f=1& ... #p10425053
But, came here, searched it out, and got it working.
THANK YOU!

Re: Moving old installation to new installation accross serv
Garvin,
Thanks. I got one blog moved and it seems to work perfectly.
Now I'm doing another one. . .
Oops. Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
Had a question caused by an upload that didn't go. I'll report back when it works.

Re: Moving old installation to new installation accross serv
Garvin, Stuck! Keep in mind I'm trying to install this on a new server, and right now because it's just a test, under a different domain name. The first complaint was about "php_value" in the .htaccess file (never heard of it). I just commented them out. i.e., # php_value session.use_trans...

Re: Moving old installation to new installation accross serv
. . . Update: (see above message) : I commented out the CREATE DATABASE directive and changed the USE directive to the name of my test database on the new hosting provider's service. I was able to import the entire database, and it looks great! I have not yet tried to ftp up the blog files, but will...

Re: Verify Inegrity feature changed?
Timbalu, Ah! That last line is starting to make things clearer. Thanks. Yes. All these files came up in the earlier verify and it is how I was able to know which ones I had changed and where they were. The path info was especially helpful for things like the preview frame template. As I recall it wa...

Re: Moving old installation to new installation accross serv
Garvin, Hi. Re: Database restore When you say database paths in the sql dump, bo you mean the CREATE DATABASE and USE directives at the top of the dump? i.e., -- -- Database: `someName_002` -- CREATE DATABASE `someName_002` DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_general_ci; USE `someName_002`; If I...

Re: Verify Inegrity feature changed?
Hi Ian, thanks for the reply. I did this a while ago to get a list of "hacked" files prior to upgrading to 1.5.5 (lite). After the install, I used the list of paths and files to replace or modify the ones that had hacks. This includes the categories plugin, which includes a way to hide low...

Verify Inegrity feature changed?
Hello. I've made a lot of small changes and edits to my blog, including some code-bits. On the last upgrade, the "Verify Integrity" feature was very handy for showing me which of the old php files would need to be restored or re-edited after the upgrade. This time around, even though those...

Re: Backup tool gibt Warning
Garvin, Hi. Thanks. I think I understand. The problem with my last export was that it included a database name, which, when I attempted to import into a DB with a different name, gave me the error. You're saying I can export without creating a database (which is where the name comes in?), and I'll b...

Re: Backup tool gibt Warning
Update: I uninstalled and re-installed the backup pluggin, and I now have a clean backup screen. The backup ran to 98 Meg zipped. The normal phpMyAdmin export function started working this morning, and I was able to make a clean backup (~225K, zipped). My question is: If I move to a differen...

Re: Backup tool gibt Warning
Hi Garvin, I think I need this in English. I installed the plugin three times before realizing it wasn't going to let me have a base outside of the doc directory. I made a new base directory in the doc area. Most of the errors went away. Only these two are left: Warning: Invalid argument supplied fo...

Thanks Garvin,
I'll upgrade it as soon as they get the write path access fixed.
