Re: Worrying respons to Verify Integrity

I downloaded the file and compared it (with vimdiff) with the file from the latest version of Serendipity. The two are completely identical so perhaps I should simply leave things as they are.

Re: Worrying respons to Verify Integrity

Thanks for the clarification. I removed the htmlarea folder without ill-effects. I'm not sure about functions_config.inc.php. It was changed in August and I think I may have done so in the course of sorting out a password problem with Gavin's help. I can't be sure. Perhaps I should upload a new vers...

Re: Worrying respons to Verify Integrity

Sorry - I'm still not clear what I should do. Ignore the error messages? Delete all the files that Verify objects to? Delete everything and start again?

Worrying respons to Verify Integrity

Some time ago I made the alterations suggested in the blog on this site (December 21), deleting the files suggested there. Following another post in this forum I just did verification on my site and got the following: * include/functions_config.inc.php corrupt or modified: failed verification * html...

Re: Accented letters in entry title

or just do a copy & paste, which would be my quick & dirty choice. In this case, I would hold a text nearby with all the foreign chars & signs I needed in the past. Ian Thanks - yes, I don't know why I didn't think of that. No way I can enter accents directly in the title line but I sim...

Re: Accented letters in entry title

As I said previously, I don't know how to produce an accented letter in Serendipity. How did you do it?

I don't know how to do that in the Serendipity editor. I always use html codes.

Accented letters in entry title

I was posting two reviews of books by John le Carre and wanted to put his name into the title. I used the html code "é" which appeared lilerally, although it worked in the text body. Is there any way to insert an accented letter in the title?

Re: You appear to have entered an invalid username or password

Hi! Then your 1.5.2 upgrade was faulty already! If you're missing the column, it's missing for quite some time, because in 1.5 the column was introduced. By deleting only the files and not the database, you made it so that serendipity still does not properly upgrade your database strcuture. Accordi...

Re: You appear to have entered an invalid username or password

Hi! If you don't have a "hashtype" column this means you did not properly upgrade your serendipity installation. From which version did you upgrade from? In any case, your upgrade did NOT perform the necessary database upgrades. In the FAQ on http://www.s9y.org you can see a pointer on ho...

Re: You appear to have entered an invalid username or password

Hi! When you maintain your serendipity_authors database table, you should see those columns: realname, username, password, authorid, mail_comments, mail_trackbacks, email, userlevel, right_publish, hashtype When you edit a row, the dropdown next to "password" will be set to MD5, and next ...

Re: You appear to have entered an invalid username or password

Hi! Hi! When you install serendipity over an existing installation ,it does not modify any passwords. An installation is only properly executed when done to a fresh database. I typed the password as usual during installation. When it didn't work I went to the mysql database and typed the password t...

Re: You appear to have entered an invalid username or password

Hi! Serendipity 1.5 has a new method of saving/storing passwords. How did you reset the password? You can enter a md5'd password into the serendipity_authors DB table, but you must also set hashtype=0. If hashtype is not set to 0 it means that sha1 is used instead of md5. Regards, Garvin I typed th...

Re: You appear to have entered an invalid username or password

I am getting the same problem. I had to reinstall, using 1.5.3. The site is visible but I can't login to administer it. I've reinstalled Serendipity a second time but the same thing happens.

I also tried resetting the password in the database but no luck
