Have you optimized your httpd.conf and my.cnf files? Quite often either apache or mysql is the root cause of the problem. There are tons of tutorials out there for configuring each of these to work to the best of their abilities for your hardware. If you would like to post them here I would be more ...

The bad thing about sphere is to get highly ranked there you have to be a fairly massive site. Most of the si...

Yes, it does exist with one entry in it. Its the one entry that I originally tested the plugin with. There is also nothing in my error_log saying any sort of error. I would be happy to give you admin and phpmyadmin access if you need it. If I get time tonight I will make another test site and test p...

Switch to bulletproof and use CSS  Or this should do the trick <table id="mainpane"> <tr> <td>&nbsp</td> <td colspan=2><img src="blah.jpg" alt="blah" /> <tr> <td id="content" valign="top">{$CONTENT}</td> {if $rightSidebarElements > 0} <td i...

Imported SQL dump of entries from phpmyadmin Installed karma and popular entries plugin -- works Installed the rest...

I too believe that the default template should get rid of tables. My original designs were based on the stock template and therefore my site used tables. At the time I had no idea that one could create a fully CSS based template. I actually didn't know I could create a template easily with CSS until...

RSS is a wonderful technology that I just recently (last year or so) started using. It allows people to receive updates to a web site via one location. The location can vary, it can be a application sitting on the users desktop or it can be a web interface. I am now able to scan through the days new...

You are missing a </div> for serendipity_Entry_Date To figure out exactly what is going on you can download the web developer tools extension for firefox. Once installed you can go to outline -> current element. This will highlight whatever the mouse is hovering over on a web site. Its fixed many pr...

There are different user levels inside of s9y. It should be fairly easy to setup exactly what you are looking for inside the user permissions settings. What you can do is have people register an account (or you could do it for them) and then you can set the permissions for the account. You can do an...

Spam, spam, spam, spam, spam. Did I say spam? Now seriously, if you allow anyone to post to your site it is going to be spammed. I mean, it is going to be hit quite hard by spam bots. I would HIGHLY recommend against allowing anyone post without any sort of record for what they are doing. Eve...

Ah yes, open source politics. Where everyone has no idea what they are talking about

I am going to take a read over at Growlaw, because I am truly stumped at this point.

I think we might need some professional help (in more ways than just the one  )

How I would do it: Use two separate products. On the Windows side of things I would use a WAMPP based solution, such as the one Garvin Pointed out. On the OS X side of things you are going to need the root password for any solution if you want to use port 80. This is because anything that is an assi...
