If you are looking for more services to ping you can find a list on the wordpress site: http://codex.wordpress.org/Update_Services

This page also does a fairly good job describing pinging.

I see that serendipity adds a meta tag stating that the site is powered by it, why not use this to your advantage here? Make the script grab a copy of the site and look for this tag. If the site does not have the tag than odds are its a spam site. If it does have the tag they are going to quite a bi...

the "HTML-Code inside head (HTML-Head Nugget)" plugin works great for this. Make sure to lowercase the word META in google's tag so that it continues to be valid xHTML. Also make sure you edit the HTML version of the page and not using a wysiwyg editor. If you are using the editor the text...

bah, google isn't accepting the https for that URL. Try this one - http://www.google.com/webmasters/ If that still does not work just use google to find itself http://www.google.com/search?q=webmaster+tools You can read more about these tools on the google blog http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot...

I suggest using google's webmaster tools to tell them where the sitemap is and you can also see quite a bit more info while there.
https://www.google.com/webmasters

If you have never seen these tools before they are quite handy.

Hi Icenor,

You can use the Lightbox/Thickbox JS plugin which is available in Spartacus. I use it on my site, lightbox plus to be exact. You can see it working on this page: http://zacgarrett.com/2006/11/06/windows-vista-review/

Hope this helps.

When I added the + to the array the links changed, but the actual pages did not. I tried to update my .htaccess file by changing the permalink structure in the admin, but that didn't get the links working. I will play around with this much more tonight or tomorrow as I've got the day off of work. Th...

It is seeming that WP removes non alpha-numeric info from their permalinks. On my site the title of one of my posts includes a + and = which WP ignores. Serendipity removes the equal (+) but not the plus (+). I personally do not mind a few things being broken as my site is not old enough to have it ...

Okay, so I couldn't wait.

I've now got my links from google and other search engines back to a working state. I used strtolower as was suggested and also had to add a slash at the end of the permalinks to exactly match my old links.

current format: %year%/%month%/%day%/%title%/

Thanks,
Zac

Moving from WordPress - Permalinks Changed

I am just moving away from WordPress and got most of the site up and running with no problems at all. The only thing that I have ran into is that the permalinks have changed. I've changed the format of them to match the WP style, but it seems that s9y's titles are capitalized while WP's are not. I'v...
