It appears, the only place I can get it to work is the footer or next to the author (in which case, it acts like its part of the arthors name, just like it does in the title)

Depends, if you're running the host off your own computer, you can do it manually, I think you can get it here: http://www.php.net/ . If its a free host, switch free hosts? lol, If you're paying for it, maybe you can ask your provider. I don't think you can upgrade it w/out having direct server side...

Thanks for the tip, I wasn't aware that the index.tpl file was transferable to various themes. After that, it was simple as pie :D.

1) Did you name your SQL Database?
2) Do you have the right name and password for the SQL DB info?
Those are the only things I can think of that might be causing a problem like that...
