i'm also having the same problem.
Currently using Serendipity Version 1.0.
and this issue has been there for quite sometime and i didnt notice until i read this post.
Hopefully this issue can be solved in the next release.

problem in chinese character and trendy theme
hi,
i come across this problem since 0.8.
It didnt shows the correct chinese character instead it shows all the UTF8 character (ex: &234425;&38420;)
i've once get it corrected using html_entity_decode() but after i upgrade to 0.8.1 this bug come back again. ah~~~~
Oh ya. one more thing. the MT ...

i would like to know how to upgrade my blog from 0.8 to 0.8.1. i've try to extract the new tar.gz file to my directory. it come out with the fresh installation page.
