Hi dweade, That's good feedback re WordPress. I'm still evaluating it for my personal needs. Serendipity is a great engine and I thoroughly recommend it. Its only shortfall is that it doesn't have a critical mass of third party plugin support that WP and MT has. Chris That post was from me (forgot ...

Hi Garvin, I haven't left S9Y yet ! :D I'm still experimenting with WordPress. While the installation process with WP is much easier than MT, I still see many advantages S9Y has over WP. You know what would be great - if S9Y and WP can merge and create a best-of-breed blogging solution. I will be wr...

Movable Type 3.2 vs. Serendipity 0.9 Beta

Hi guys, I just spent the past few days trying to get Movable Type to work. I've been using S9Y for the past 11 months and it's an awesome engine but it's just lacking in third party support. Anyway - you may be interested in my hands on review of the MT experience here . The short story is that S9Y...

Hi ! I am having the same problem. I upgraded to 0.9 beta 2 from 0.8.3 and all my RSS feeds are not showing. For clarity, I am referring to the sidebar plugins, not the RSS feeds being published from my blog. Eg. http://www.christopher-chan.com/blog/index.php If you look at the sidebar on the right,...

Hi Dolordo,

As an alternative, you can also try Google Adsense for Search. There is an option to have users search just your site. The other advantage is that you will potentially generate some side income from this as well. :)

Good luck !

Coppermine plugin - removing black border around thumbnails

Hi everyone, I've just installed 0.8.3 (after accidentally deleting my blog directory !) and I've also installed the Coppermine plugin (serendipity_plugin_coppermine) via Spartacus. I notice that there are black borders around the thumbnails of each photo (see my blog for example - http://www.christ...

Hi Garvin, Thank you as always for your speedy response. I've just made matters worse for myself ! To cut a long story short, I've accidentally deleted my entire blog directory ! :( The good news is that the database is intact and I've just managed to re-install using 0.8.3 and pointed it back to th...

Plugin installation problems

Hi everyone, I installed the My Calendar event plugin just fine via Spartacus. However, when I went to install the My Calendar sidebar plugin via Spartacus, I get the follow error message along these lines : Trying to open URL http://netmirror.org/mirror/serendipity/package_sidebar.xml... There were...

Hi Garvin,

Found the problem - one of my CSS elements was screwing up the Kubrick template in IE. Funny thing is that this works using any other template and in FF using Kubrick.

I'm not sure that's the problem. I've just tried hiding several of my larger sidebar plugins but there was no change to the messed up layout. And furthermore, it works in Firefox. I notice that in IE, the sidebar contents only start after my last blog entry in the main content area. Is this some sor...

Re: IE problem

Hey, my problem: Sometimes, the whole Navigation will not be displayed. The Sidebar is empty. I have this problem only with the IE. (i didnt use IE, but many other people/visitors!) I think it could be an issue with the Kubrick theme. I just upgraded to 0.8 and I've not changed any of the standard ...

Kubrick theme doesn't work with IE ?

s9y team - great job with 0.8 -> love it ! :D I've just switched over to the awesome Kubrick theme included with 0.8 but it looks like IE is having some issues with it. For example : http://www.christopher-chan.com/blog/index.php It works great with Firefox though - does any one have any advice on w...

Hi Roaster, I can confirm this. I just checked my referrer logs and I've had 90 visitors to my site coming from a Google domain since the start of December. Other stats : - 9 from MSN - 42 from Yahoo This doesn't include referrals from these sites which have been suppressed. So, Serendipity is total...
