Wow, I didnt explain how to fix it if the site does die. If you enter the line in the .htaccess and the site no longer works, remove the line and it will be back up and running.

Apache loves to error out when it gets a bad configuration.

If you could give a link to your site so we can see what you want changed it would be much easier. Also a brief description of what you want changed.

It is already. You have to use version 1.3 (the nightly builds on the download page). Are the nightly builds stable enough for the brave among us to use on a live site? I've ran a ton of nightly builds on other projects and had them bite me due to bugs in them. I have no problem trying test builds,...

@garvin: You probably just went right over this person's head. Let me take a stab at explaining it to the non-programmer... @weedris: To change most style elements of serendipity you have to edit the HTML and CSS code in the template. By the sounds of it, you might not be up for this yourself. If th...

Wow, I had no idea that godaddy inserted ads into CSS files. Since godaddy is such a large company there are probably work arounds to resolve this issue.

The easiest solution would be to pay the few bucks a year and upgrade your account with them to remove the ads.

Re: Allowed memory size

Add php_value memory_limit "16M" to your .htaccess file Depending on how PHP is setup this could kill the site. On some servers if it does not work correctly it will through an error while on others (like mine) the page will just be while and the error will be in error_log. Quite a few se...

ooohhhh, I remember what it was... When I first started using s9y I wanted to use wordpress links. I posted asking for the code and you offered a solution by editing one of the core files. When I upgraded after that it replaced my changes and I didn't notice any problems until now. I just resaved th...

I believe what they are looking for is a CMS that offers different plugins on each page. So on page1 you have one set of plugins and then on page2 its something completely different.

At least that is what I got out of the questions.

Yes, it uses a slightly bad permalink. What I mean by this is that most of the links work, just my most popular story is not working. You can see the plugin in action on my site , most of the stories work just fine, just the top one does not as it has special characters in the title. Link in the plu...

I was getting a ton of spam for a long while, until I enabled Akismet in the spamblock plugin. You need to get an API key, but all you need to do is sign up for a free wordpress account. I already had one for when I first setup my site (used wordpress). Then I put in the API key into s9y, I have to ...

Popular Entries Plugin and Permalinks Plugin

Hey Guys, I just installed the "Popular Entries" plugin and I was wondering what it would take to get it to use permalinks rather than the old format. I've looked around the forums with no avail, but I know it can be done and don't know where to start. If someone has done this in the past ...

I would suggest keeping the .htaccess the default format as it should be the correct settings for most people. There are places where you may have to change it, but you will know when that happens. For the robots.txt file I personally just grabbed the one from wikipedia and edited it to suit my need...

I am just basing this off what I've personally experienced... I upgraded to 1.2 without doing much of anything. My template works just fine without converting it over or anything. I *believe* that the bulletproof theses are just themes to be used in the future to make theming easier. Once again, I d...

I was pointed to this site this morning by someone else and I signed up to check it out. The problem with that site is it forces you to load an external javascript file. I for one hate javascript and do not use it (much) on my site. I know that I am in the minority here, but javascript is truly an e...

hrm, you could always just use the first few words from any post. I use the extended body extension which allows me to separate a post. It gives me a link to read more on a second page if I so choose. It also makes people click onto my site if they are reading the RSS feed. If you used this plugin o...
