You get 404 errors all over the blog.
Even the article links do not work and the paths look strange.
Seems it has something to do with the URL forming and the relative paths you have set in your configuration.
Try to disable the URL rewriting and check your paths settings please.

I have never heard of 406 either. I believe it could be the "mod_speling" apache module. Serendipity ships with a "serendipity.css.php" file which might confuse that module.
